In life, we don’t really know what the future brings. Anything can happen to anyone at any given time – and that means you could lose the one you love to illness or an accident at any given moment.
At a restaurant near Corpus Christi, Texas, Chasidy Gwaltney saw an elderly man having a meal by himself. Seeing that he was ordering for two, Chasidy grew a bit curious but didn’t think there was something strange going on until she saw the old man crying.
It was Valentine’s Day and everyone was enjoying a quiet, romantic dinner with their respective partners but this guy was alone. But Chasidy would soon notice that the guy wasn’t really ‘alone’ but was actually having a ‘dinner date’ with his wife, only she was already dead and her ashes were placed in a bottle which the man put on the table.
The moment touched Chasidy so much that she posted about it on Facebook as a reminder for everyone to value what they have and the time they have with their loved ones.
You know? We are all guilty of taking our other half for granted from time to time. We may forget to give a goodbye kiss, say I love you or just be so caught up in what we are doing at the moment that we don’t notice the very little things that mean so much to our special someone.
I saw something today that has made me remember that we won’t always have each other to hold, talk to, love, play with or even just aggravate every now and then.
This picture speaks loudly and it may hurt your heart as it has mine. This man looks like he is spending Valentine’s Day alone at first glance but that is actually his wife in that very beautiful bottle sitting on the table.
Apparently his love for her was and still is very strong as he takes her ashes out for a Valentine’s lunch date together. He even bought her a glass of wine….
Indeed, it was a bittersweet moment that serves as a reminder for all of us to show our love to our special someone before it is too late.
