NAHB: 2-Story Home Shares Continue to Rise

Date:

According to the National Association of Home Builders’ tabulation of Census Bureau Survey of Construction (SOC) data, the rising trend of homes with two floors or more will continue in 2022.

According to NAHB, the share of new homes with two or more stories in the United States will remain at 48% in 2022.

The survey does highlight regional variances, with five of nine geographic divisions indicating a higher number of newly built dwellings with two or more stories.

Except for the South Atlantic division, new residences started in the Midwest and South revealed a preference for single-story homes.
