The Building Materials Distribution branch of Boise Cascade has announced the expansion of its distribution capacity in two areas.
The company completed the purchase of 45 acres near Walterboro, South Carolina, for the construction of a new distribution center.
The location, which is about 45 miles west of Charleston, will be Boise Cascade’s first distribution hub in the state.
The rail-served facility will benefit clients in Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and Columbia, South Carolina, as well as Savannah, Georgia.
The BMD division now serves these areas from Greensboro, North Carolina, and Atlanta.
In addition, the company completed the purchase of a 34-acre land tract in Hondo, Texas, for the construction of a new distribution facility.
This location, located around 40 miles west of San Antonio, will be the third Boise Cascade distribution center in the state, joining its two door shops in Houston and Dallas.
Customers in Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and the Rio Grande Valley will benefit from the property’s train service.
“Consistent with our strategy, these investments demonstrate our commitment to our customers and supplier partners in several high-growth markets,” BMD executive vice president Jeff Strom stated.
“We are thrilled to increase our diversification of product offerings. This will allow us to expand in engineered wood products, leading brands of general line building materials, as well as lumber and panels products.”
Vice President of Eastern Operations Jim Wickham said, “We are very excited to expand our footprint into these markets. This will help us grow in these geographies and also provide deeper penetration in the local market for the facilities that are currently serving these areas, allowing us to be closer to our customers.”
Construction is set to start soon.
