Few months ago (Fourth of July, 2016 to be exact), Tom Hiddleston was spotted on the beach with his then rumored girlfriend Taylor Swift, wearing a tank top with the words “I Heart T.S.” (I love Taylor Swift). Paparazzi captured it (in pics) and as expected, the internet freaked out upon seeing it.
People are quick to speculate that maybe, it’s a way of Hiddleston’s expression of love to Taylor. Some assume that Tom lost some form of bet and the punishment is him wearing that shirt. Some even went far by saying that it’s all form of stunt and it will be used for a music video.
None of these are correct, at least based on what Tom Hiddleston said in the cover interview with GQ for the March 2017 issue.

At the said interview, Hiddleston revealed some details about his relationship with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift. Here, he firmly answered the number one question that his and Swift’s fans all have – whether the HiddleSwift story was legit or just a publicity stunt.
“Of course it was real,” Hiddleston said, firmly denying the rumors that their swift, 3-month HiddleSwift relationship was just a matter of publicity.
“Taylor is an amazing woman. She’s generous and kind and lovely, and we had the best time.”
And when he was asked about the story behind the “I Heart T.S.” tank top shirt, Hiddleston revealed some juicy details.
“The truth is, it was the Fourth of July and a public holiday and we were playing a game and I slipped and hurt my back,” Hiddleston said.
“And I wanted to protect the graze from the sun and said, ’Does anyone have a T-shirt?’ And one of her friends said, ’I’ve got this.’(the shirt with I Heart T.S. print) And we all laughed about it. It was a joke.”
“It was a joke, among friends.”
He also add that he was quite surprised and shocked about how that simple shirt became a full blown story for many.
“I don’t know, I just, I was surprised. I was just surprised that it got so much attention. The tank top became an emblem of this thing.”
Hiddleston also revealed some information about their break-up.
“I have to be so psychologically strong about not letting other people’s interpretations about my life affect my life. A relationship exists between two people. We will always know what it was.”
“The narratives that are out there altogether have been extrapolated from pictures that were taken without consent or permission, with no context. Nobody had the context for that story. And I’m still trying to work out a way of having a personal life and protecting it, but also without hiding.”
“So the hardest thing is that that was a joke among friends on the Fourth of July.”
So there you have it, the HiddleSwift relationship (even though it didn’t last long) was real but that I Heart T.S. shirt, it was just a joke among friends.
