Live rodents and food doesn’t rhyme well with our stomach, Even so with a favorite local Café…
A shocking viral video circulating around social media wherein a couple filmed rats eating at a branch of Caffe Nero in Donegall Square West, Belfast. The incident happened last July 7, 2015.
The shocking video has reached the headquarters of the Caffe Nerro chain (who has 600+ locations globally) prompting spokesmen to declare:
“This incident has only just been brought to our attention. We are taking it extremely seriously and will be conducting a thorough investigation as a matter of urgency.”
According to Belfasttelegraph, The Belfast City Council said it sent environmental health officers out to ensure the premises are closed and offer advice on tackling the problem.
In a statement it added:
“The council were also investigating the integrity of the external drainage infrastructure in the area and were liaising with the management of the Scottish Provident Building who carried out immediate maintenance to the drainage. There were no reports of any rodent activity in any of the food businesses.”
As of this moment, the Nerro Caffe location where the incident was shot is “closed for essential maintenance.”
