Dead people could no longer make jokes or even prank the living (unless you believe that ghosts can play a prank on people) but one dead woman’s prank on her husband took the family many years to discover – and has made them laugh again.
It was back in 2013 when 69-year-old Phedre Fitton of South Africa lost her 5-year battle with cancer.
The courageous lady had to bid goodbye to her husband whom she had known since she was still 16 years old. It’s truly difficult to say goodbye to your family, knowing they would truly be hurt with your passing but Phedre knew exactly what to do to put a smile on their faces; although they would not know about it for 5 years.
As she lay on her death bed, surrounded by her family and most especially by her husband Nigel who was holding her hand, she asked him to lean forward so she could deliver her final instructions. With all seriousness, she instructed her husband to regularly water the plants in the bathroom.
Phedre died the following day. And just as she had instructed, Nigel watered the plants every single day without fail. In fact, he watered it twice a day just to make sure the plants wouldn’t wither. True enough, the plants always looked lively!
For years, Nigel watered the plants.
But while helping him move to his retirement home some 5 years after his wife’s death, their children would discover something that truly made everyone laugh.
Antonia posted on Twitter:
Before my mum passed away, she gave my dad strict instructions to water the plants in the bathroom. He’s been religiously watering them & keeping them alive. They look so amazing he decided to take them to his new home, only to discover they are plastic! Can hear my mum chuckling.
ROFL! Bet you didn’t expect that! Isn’t that funny?
After her post went viral, Nigel was so amused the internet laughed at his late wife’s prank that he gamely posed for a photo, re-enacting just how he watered the plants every single day without fail. Adorable.
