To give back, Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to creating and delivering hand-made, completely equipped beds to children in need, joined with KB Home and Simpson Strong-Tie.
On Saturday, June 10, the organizations and more than 65 of their staff collaborated to build 100 beds for underprivileged families in Phoenix, Arizona.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace, founded in Idaho in 2012, has donated over 150,000 beds to children in need through more than 300 chapters in four countries, including the United States and Canada.
“At SHP, we are thrilled to be building beds for kids in need with two great companies like KB Home and Simpson Strong-Tie,” said Sleep in Heavenly Peace Phoenix Chapter President Joe Genovese. Their help means everything to us and our objective of ensuring that “No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town!”
KB Home also contributed bed sheets for all of the beds created during the event through its KB Cares giving initiative. Simpson Strong-Tie held a teddy bear campaign at its Riverside, California headquarters to give to the children who would be getting the beds.
“KB Home was introduced to Sleep in Heavenly Peace through our strategic partnership with Simpson Strong-Tie. The nonprofit’s mission nicely aligns with our KB Cares giving program and specifically our focus on helping to provide shelter for those in the most challenging circumstances,” Rob McGibney, executive vice president and chief operating officer for KB Home stated. “We believe that a safe and secure shelter includes a place to sleep, so we are grateful to be able to assist in building these bunk beds for children in the local community.”
“We’re very excited about Sleep in Heavenly Peace and KB Home giving us the opportunity to partner with them on this event to give back to our communities,” added Simpson Strong-Tie Vice President, National Accounts – Builder/Pro Supply Nate Johnston. “This is the first time Simpson Strong-Tie has participated with one of our builder partners on a community activity at this scale, and we’re grateful to SHP and KB Home for making it a reality.”
