Continuing a more than seven-decade-long charitable giving legacy, the Spahn & Rose Charitable Foundation presented $175,000 to 72 organizations in communities served by Spahn & Rose in 2022.
Representatives from charities that received Foundation gifts, as well as Spahn & Rose staff, convened on December 22 for Community Day to commemorate the wonderful work of those groups. During the ceremony, these individuals discussed how their groups are making a difference in their communities and were given ceremonial large cheques representing the Foundation’s grants.
Over the last decade, the Spahn & Rose Charitable Foundation has given more than $1.3 million to local organizations in the communities served by Spahn & Rose.

The charities that receive Foundation grants address a wide range of community issues. Here’s how five Spahn & Rose Charitable Foundation grantees made a difference in 2022:
By providing financial resources for its member private schools and universities, the Des Moines-based Iowa College Foundation provides students in Iowa with the chance for an affordable, high-quality education.
The United Way of Walworth County, Wisconsin, serves Walworth County, which includes Spahn & Rose’s Dunn Lumber facility in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and provides financial assistance to over 45 organizations, including the 211 emergency-resource helpline, food banks, and shelters.
Crescent Community Health—Spahn & Rose Fitness Center is a nonprofit organization situated in Dubuque, Iowa that provides medical treatment, wellness programs, and dental care. Crescent Community Health focuses on primary care and serves people of all ages, with or without insurance.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a nonprofit that began in Idaho and has since spread across the country. It organizes volunteers to construct, assemble, and distribute high-quality bunk beds to children and families in need.
Leader Valley Foundation, a business-education partnership that assists students in Iowa’s Cedar Valley in developing leadership abilities, serves 6,554 students and 842 educators. Leader Valley has introduced “Leader in Me,” a talent-development strategy that helps kids to gain the skills needed for personal and professional success, in 17 schools in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Waverly.
